The original Summer Sun in the yellow bottle with the starfish and shell charm is gorgeous. Looks expensive and smells amazing. Reminds me of the coconutty sweet smell of wild gorse on a balmy summer’s day. It’s sweet, but not sickly, coconutty and then has this lovely ambery warmth to it. It’s light, so not overpowering at all. It really is the perfect summer scent and it trumps all my designer perfumes for summer wear. It’s May and I’m already wearing it. I always get complimented when I wear this perfume. Only qualm is it doesn’t have great projection after the first few hours of wear and becomes much more subtle. Easily fixed by topping up. That said, this perfume has had a makeover for ‘24. The bronze bottle isn’t as attractive as it’s predecessor and although they claim it’s the same fragrance, I feel it smells slightly different. It smells a bit powdery/peppery/plasticky instead of ambery, I think maybe something has been swapped out or an ingredient has been changed on this note, which I think spoils it. It makes it more of a copy of designer bronze bottled summer perfume, which I don’t like at all. It was better in its own right, ambery, sweet and coconutty. The scent of summer. I hope they take this feedback and revert back to the original. It was perfect as it was.
