The suit you should be wearing now

Welcome to the most important addition you can make to your wardrobe this season: the light and bright coloured suit. For now, it’s time to say goodbye to dark and cold two-pieces, and instead make room for bolder suits that’ll keep you ahead of the style curve. And, as with any new trend, there are essential rules that every man, no matter what his current style status, should follow.

SHOP ALL COLOURED SUITS

Without a doubt, confidence in what you’re wearing is probably the most important of all guidelines to stick to here. You’re going to be stepping out in a bold new colour (or at the very least, something lighter than what you’re used to), so own the look and be safe in the knowledge that every other man in the room is undoubtedly envious of your sartorial bravery.

Next, you want to make sure that you’re not going too far by adding other outlandish colours into your outfit. You want the suit to shine, and the only real way it’ll be able to do this is if everything else about your outfit is pared back. Old favourites like a crisp white shirt or a gentle floral and suede Derbies (or trainers, depending on the occasion) will come in handy here, so make sure you’ve got plenty of options on hand. 

Remember also that there is a time and a place for lighter or brighter suits. Whilst we are (obviously) suggesting that at some point soon you give one a go, we’re not implying that you forgo your dignity at a black suits-only event in order to get heads turning. Always stick to the dress code, but for times when there are no specifics, always bear in mind that you can afford to have a little fun.
