'Nail' the Look

your outfit essentials

The dos and don'ts of the Christmas jumper

If there’s one piece of clothing that has the capability to divide a room even more than the whispering of political opinion, it’s the Christmas jumper. Love it or hate it, there’s no avoiding it – particularly if you work in an office that enjoys partaking in a bit of old fashioned organised fun.

Our view? Embrace it. Christmas, after all, only comes but once a year and so when it does, why not make the most of it? Before you dive in though, familiarise yourself with the all-important Christmas jumper rulebook and you’ll find it hard to go wrong.

Once you choose the route of the Christmas jumper, your actions from here on out are essential. Walking into a room with your head hung in shame only gives others ammo to question your decision. Be safe in the knowledge that you’re rocking this look – and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

The rest of your outfit is as important as the Christmas jumper – if not more. Going for other outlandish patterns and colours is going to detract from the very message of Christmas cheer that you’re attempting to spread, rather than honing in on it. Keep everything else sharp and neutral and let the jumper do the talking.

You’ve made the conscious decision to wear a Christmas jumper, so there’s no use in pretending that you’re being ironic when you’re definitely not. There’s nothing to be ashamed of here and if anything, embracing the Christmas jumper proves that you’re much more ahead of the curve than a lot of other men out there.

The aim of the Christmas jumper is to add a sprinkling of festive spirit for you and those around you, so going over the top and adding a Christmas hat, gloves, tee and whatever else you can get your hands on is likely to have surrounding bodies running for the hills. If you’re embracing Christmas, good on you – just make sure you do it in style.
